Dr. Ashlee Mackens, DPM

I'm Dr. Mackens and I truly love what I do. Podiatry is an incredible field that offers so much diversity in just one specialty. In a single day, I might help a 90-year-old with a pressure injury, fit orthotics for a 7-year-old with flat feet, and finish the day in the operating room repairing an ankle fracture. I love that I get to help people feel better, move better, and leave my office walking out more comfortably than they walked in.

My journey into podiatry started with my family’s experience with diabetes and deepened while I was doing research on diabetic complications during undergrad at Arizona State University. I always loved science but initially thought I might pursue a career in teaching—I even managed a tutoring center throughout college. Quickly, I realized that podiatry allowed me to combine everything I’m passionate about: science, creativity, problem-solving, and teaching. Whether I’m educating patients, mentoring students, or working through complex surgical cases, I feel fortunate to be in a field that constantly challenges and inspires me.
